Blount County (WVLT) -- Heritage High School has named Chip Fuller the school's new athletic director.
Fuller, who will also serve as an assistant principal, told Sports Overtime that he accepted the position Thursday evening.
His objective: "Taking everything in the county to the another level," Fuller told WVLT's Daryl Hobby Friday afternoon. "We need to improve on what we already have."
Fuller replaces Terri Bradshaw as the school's athletic director. According to Blount Today, Bradshaw's position within the school system had been eliminated.
Fuller previously was Maryville High School's assistant athletic director, a position he held since 1996. He spent a total of 16 years with the Rebels.
Leaving a rival like Maryville for Heritage, Fuller knows he has some work to do. "I will work hard to earn respect. Ms. Bradshaw laid a solid foundation at Heritage and I want to continue to build on that. I don't want to make any changes to things that are already working. I want coaches to coach. I don't want them to have to worry about (administrative things.)."
Fuller added that he looks forward to communicating with all of the Mountaineers' coaches as soon as possible. He'll hit the ground running with the football. Heritage opens up the season
Fuller graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1992 with a degree in Geography. He's a 1989 graduate of Maryville High School.
