Knoxville (WVLT-TV), Volunteer-TV Sports Overtime has learned that Tony Lambert has resigned as head coach of the Mavericks. Lambert accepted the position recently replacing Larry Kerr at the High School.
Sports Overtime caught up with the coach during Spring practice. He told us he was excited about returning the program he had coached as an assistant some years before.
But Lambert, who came over from Oneida High School, has cited personal reasons for his abrupt departure for the school. Lambert says he will keep his coaching options open. We're unsure what that option might be back in Oneida, where the Indians have replaced Lambert with John Brewster.
Sources say a possible replacement for Lambert at Anderson Co. could be Scott's David Gillum.
