CORRYTON (WVLT) -- The Gibbs Eagles were looking for their first 4-0 start in modern history. The Grace Christian Rams were just looking to add another win to the left-hand column.
And after a physical slugfest that lasted well into the muggy night, the Rams emerged as overtime victors, 28-21.
Grace stormed to a 21-7 lead when Chris Campbell darted 25 yards for a Rams touchdown, but the Eagles refused to quit. Andy Hibbett ran for a fourth-quarter touchdown to tie the game at 21 and sent it to overtime.
Grace outlasted Gibbs in the extra period, holding on for a 28-21 win.
CATHOLIC 30, AUSTIN-EAST 28
Catholic appeared to be in control when it took a 14-0 first-quarter lead against the Road Runners.
But the Runners made a run in the second half, getting as close as two points away from the Irish. Scott Meadows' team stopped A-E on its final drive, holding on for its third straight win over the men in red and blue.
CLINTON 55, HARDIN VALLEY 21
The Dragons got off to a fiery start and didn't cool off until the final whistle sounded, scorching the Hawks, 55-21, thanks to a dominant performance by Weston Hazelhurst.
The two-way terror had a sack, a fumble recovery and a touchdown run to spur Clinton to its fourth victory of the season. The Dragons led 42-7 at the half and played the backups for the remainder of the game.
