KNOXVILLE (WVLT) -- Friday's steady rain didn't damper the spirits of the West Rebels against Farragut.

Scott Cummings' team took an 8-0 lead against one of the state's top teams and held on into the third quarter, until the Admirals stormed back and held on for an 18-11 win.

West took the ball on its opening possession and methodically matriculated the ball down the field. But during the drive, the game was delayed for longer than an hour because of lightning in the area.

When play resumed, so did the Rebels' momentum. They punched the ball into the end zone and made the two-point conversion to take an 8-0 lead.

Farragut answered with a field goal, but was unable to do anything else in the first half. But the Admirals woke up in the second half, outscoring West 15-3 to secure their fourth victory of the season.

BEARDEN 35, LENOIR CITY 7
KNOXVILLE -- The vaunted Bulldog offense failed to score in the first quarter, but made up for it in the second stanza. Bearden recovered a Lenoir City fumble and scored on the first play of the ensuing drive to take a 7-0 lead.

A Devrin Young touchdown run on the next possession padded the score, but the Panthers weren't content to head to the halftime locker room trailing by two touchdowns. A touchdown connection made the score 14-7.

But Brad Taylor's team pulled away in the second half, beating its homecoming date, 35-14.
