These 2 kids are absolute jerks in the high school and have ALWAYS been jerks. I'm not surprised to see their names in print.

Advice from an outsider: When you have graduated and moved on to bigger and better things, you realize how insignificant high school actually was, no matter how much you think you can't stand the other school right now. It's not worth doing something that will impact the rest of your life over something as unimportant as a "school rivalry". Prank (n.): a practical joke played on a person (especially one intended to make the victim appear foolish). This wasn't a prank--the only people that appear foolish are the ones that vandalized the property and now have their mugshots plastered all over the news. I'm glad to hear that students from both schools have stepped up to demonstrate that these guys were a small minority of the class. Way to go! One last piece of advice: If you really want to demonstrate your school's superiority over the other school...man up and prove it out on the football field or in the classroom. This week's prank showed nothing but stupidity, not school spirit.

There is a difference between having a little bit of fun like painting the spirit rock and throwing toilet paper everywhere, but what they did went so far beyond that. They are old enough to know that that kind of behavior is going to have its consequences. They are old enough to know between right and wrong. $6,000 worth of damage! I feel like jail is appropriate. They should have thought about their futures before they committed the crime.

I understand facing criminal charges, however I think everyone is forgetting what Bearden did to Farragut's field a while back. Let's not act appalled like we've never seen anything like it.

I go to farragut and i agree what they did was wrong mainly to the memorial, but to tear apart thier future and adolenscence is too much. They made a terrible mistake that they should pay for and fix yes. but why ruin thier future and thier chances for a mistake made as teenagers. Thats what we are and mistakes are we make but our future shouldnt depend on that. BEarden has at times gone to far. This is something they should learn from and be punished for. But these are our classmates, jail is for murderers, rapists, druggies, thiefs. NOt highschool students who took a prank too far. Remember that. Should they get the same punishments as those selling drugs, or fighting, and stealing. no. I believe they should be punished as teenagers cuz thats how they are treated. WE are students, not adults. The point of being a teenager is to make mistakes and learn form them not live with them for the rest of our lives, if serving jail this will follow them for too long. sorry that happened.

I appreciate the fact that WVLT reported that the vandals destroyed more than just the field, and that there were EXTREMELY inappropriate pictures. The other channels minimized the damage! Farragut has been, for at least the past 3 years the "over the top" pranksters. Real class acts, those admirals!

So yes, a felony is appropriate, and so is jail. Okay Ashley, sure they did this but look what has been done in the past. Beardens done the same. It has been said Bearden messed with Farragut's Memorial years ago. So let it go. They did it for a rivalry. If Bearden did this to Farragut you would say no jail time for Bearden's students. They just turned 18 and one was 17 they do not deserve jail time, just harsh community service and should have to pay the damages. Bearden will do the same thing to FHS next year and it will keep cycling its just the fact they got caught is why its so bad. Jail is for killers, not people trying to put fun in a football rivalry. Give the students a break. The Memorial was taken a bit too far I admit, but seriously jail? That is way too harsh.

Well, you apparently haven't heard. They poured glue, motor oil, and bleach all over our football field AND bleachers, spray painted all over parking lot signs, the locher room walls and door, the side of a flat-top building, and the rock with inappropriate pictures and "FHS" all over, and DROVE THROUGH, TORE APART, and SPRAY PAINTED all over out Memorial Garden, which Student Gov't spent endless hours over the summer trying to make so nice, neat, and a pleasant place to be. So yes, a felony is appropriate, and so is jail.

I do not think that the charges are too harsh. I agree that these pranks are common, but I think these students went way too far. There's a line drawn between a little entertainment and simply being stupid and inconsiderate. I know there is an ongoing rivalry between the two schools, but that gives no excuse for causing $6,000 worth of damage. Plus, they wrecked the memorial garden. They had no reason to do that! Show some respect.

Fun gone too far? Senior pranks? Painting the rock is one thing. Toilet paper the trees or something like that. What they did was most definitely feliny damage. Where do you draw the line? I'm all for "Boys will be boys" but when do you say "enough is enough"? All 3 of them are old enough to know what they were doing is wrong. Should they go to jail? Absolutely not. Should they have comunity service and pay restitution? Absolutely. Kids these days want to be treated like adults, it's time they start acting like them.

Wow. Felony vandalism ? That's a little steep. I graduated from Bearden in 02. The Farragut and Bearden rivalry has been steaming a long time. Making sure those guys are financialy responsible for damages and perhaps a misdemeanor, but a felony ? Senior pranks and football rivalries are what make highschool great, don't make these guys have a permanent stain on their records for fun gone too far.
