DANDRIDGE (WVLT) -- It was muddy, sloppy and ugly -- just the way a defensive purist would have liked it.

But the Rivalry Thursday game between Morristown West and Jefferson County was decided by a decidedly flashy play -- an electric first-quarter run by Chad Brooks that was the difference in a 10-3 Trojan win.

The win improves Morristown West's chances of earning the first 5A seed in the district, and severely damages the Patriots' postseason hopes. The Trojans (6-2, 4-1 District 2-AAA) need to beat either Cocke County or Seymour to hammer down the top spot in the district, while Jeff County (3-5, 3-2) needs Sevier County to lose its final three games to become an automatic playoff qualifier.
