MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Morristown West's bid for its first state basketball championship came up short Saturday night.

The Lady Trojans lost to Riverdale 59-42 on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

Morristown West led after the first quarter 14-11, but found itself trailing 23-20 at the half. The Lady Trojans didn't have an answer for Riverdale's Shacobia Barbee. She pumped in a game high 30 points, including 14 of 16 from the free throw line.

Megan Fanney paced Morristown West with 14 points.

After the game, Lady Trojan standout Taylor Hall was named class AAA's Miss Basketball award winner.

Morristown West ends the year with a 34-2 record.
