NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The House has passed a measure that would keep 14 year olds from obtaining limited licenses for small-engine motorcycles.

The House voted 84-11 to pass the measure sponsored by Rep. Doug Overbey, a Maryville Republican.

Current law allows for people between the ages of 14 and 16 to ride motorcycles with engines smaller than 125 cubic centimeters or scooters that are designed to go slower than 30 mph.

About 85 teens have the limited licenses.

The Senate version of the bill is awaiting a full floor vote.
