SEVIERVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the Sevier County Sheriff.

The TBI received a request from District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn to investigate allegations that Sheriff Ron "Hoss" Seals possibly interfered with a DUI arrest made by a deputy within his apartment, according to TBI spokesperson Kristin Helm.

The request was made June 11th.

Sources tell VolunteerTV.com the incident took place within the last "couple of months," but neither the TBI, nor our source would get more specific.

We contacted Dunn for comments. Assistant District Attorney General Brownlow Marsh returned our call but would not comment on the investigation.

Seals has been sheriff in Sevier County since March of 2007.

Sheriff Seals was out of the office this afternoon, but he has not returned our calls seeking comment.
