SEVIERVIELLE, Tenn.(WVLT)--It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, at least in Sevierville!
The city kicked off Winterfest Monday evening with games, music and free food!
The entire community comes out to take part, and even some from outside the community, not to mention outside the state.
Brenda Parker is visiting from Virginia. She and her family got caught up in the excitement.
"We just ventured down here to see the lights come on. and we took a wrong turn, it looked like a flea market, and I said, let's go over there, let's see what's going on, and here we were." "Christmas is my favorite holiday. I write down Christmas stuff all over my papers at school."
George Pappas, just moved here from Las Vegas and says this helps him take his mind off his problems. "The economic time has hit everybody, myself included. And just to come out here, and not have to worry about the costs and just have a good time. They put a lot out here, and we appreciated it, unbelievably we appreciate it."
They closed the night's festivities with fireworks set to Christmas music.
