Cobbins to move to max security prison
Convicted killer Letalvis Cobbins will soon be moved to a maximum security prison, according to State Sen. Tim Burchett, who acknowledged,when contacted by Volunteer TV, taking the issue of Cobbins' incarceration up with state officials.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Convicted killer Letalvis Cobbins will soon be moved to a maximum security prison, according to State Sen. Tim Burchett, who acknowledged,when contacted by Volunteer TV, taking the issue of Cobbins' incarceration up with state officials.
Tennessee Department of Corrections spokesperson Dorinda Carter says Cobbins is being moved for safety and security reasons.
Cobbins is currently in a medium security prison, a fact that has drawn the ire of the Christian and Newsom families and members of the the community.
Burchett says Cobbins could be transferred to a as soon as Monday.
Carter says its not clear which maximum security facility he'll be moved to.
Cobbins was convicted of carjacking and kidnapping Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom in January 2007, and of killing and raping Channon and facilitating Newsom's murder.
