(WVLT) -- Down 5-2 in the third inning of the region title game against Halls, Farragut baseball coach Tommy Pharr turned to junior hurler Jordan Cooper to stop the bleeding.
The reliever did his team one better -- he completely halted the Halls' hitters' momentum, striking out 12 Red Devils to enable a 7-5 comeback win.
A two-run double by Curt Powell in the sixth inning gave Farragut its first lead since 2-0 in the first, and Cooper struck out two batters in the seventh to seal the victory.
Both teams advance to Friday's sectionals -- the Admirals will host the loser of Sullivan South and Science Hill, while Halls will travel to the winner's homefield.
In softball action, Gibbs rocked Stone Memorial, 6-3, to earn homefield advantage in the sectionals. Farragut beat Maryville, 8-4, to claim the Region 2-AAA title, while Midway knocked off Coalfield, 3-0, to take home its region honors.
