ATHENS, Ga. (WVLT) -- For the first time since 2002, Tennessee lost to Georgia between the hedges, falling 26-14 to the Bulldogs Saturday afternoon.

For the first time since 2000, the Vols are 0-3 in the SEC.

Georgia took a commanding 13-0 first-quarter lead, then held on against a feisty -- but mistake-prone -- Tennessee squad, which was unable to stop the Bulldog rushing attack when it mattered most.

The Bulldogs (5-1, 2-1 SEC) ran 87 offensive plays compared to Tennessee's 48, holding onto the ball for almost the entire fourth quarter to prevent a Tennessee comeback.

Knowshon Moreno led the Bulldogs on the ground. Even though he was unable to find the end zone, he carried the ball 27 times for 101 yards. The performance made him the first running back to rush for 100 yards against the Vols this year.

The Vols (2-4, 0-3 SEC), meanwhile, rushed for only one yard.

Tennessee quarterback Nick Stephens made some nice throws, including a gorgeous 60-yard bomb to Denarius Moore in the second quarter. Stephens finished 13-of-30 for 208 yards and two touchdowns in his SEC debut.

The Georgia win was the 'Dawgs' first over the Vols since 2005, a season that vividly mirrors this one. That season, the Vols went 5-6 and missed the postseason for the first time since 1988. Unless they turn things around this season, they are in danger of missing a bowl once again.

Tennessee will look to rebound next week when it hosts Mississippi State, who handed Vanderbilt its first loss of the season Saturday in a 17-14 contest. That game will be a Pay-per-view telecast and will kick off at 7pm.

The Vols rushed for one yard? One Yard? Hahahaha....... That's pathetic! I think you should have "dressed out" some local high school football players before the game started... slipped them into the game, and BINGO! They certainly couldn't have done worse than the "mickey mouse" "first string" that started the game. Hey "Fat Phil," I believe your first string needs to be called the "first rope." You know, like rope-a-dope! Nick Stephens is the only athlete you've got, but he can't do everything! Before the next game, substitue some of the local high school players... at least they won't be an embarrassment! One yard rushing! Hahaha! You're pathetic, Fulmer, and your offensive coordinator (he really and truly is "offensive")is even worse! One yard rushing? Hahahahahaaaa!

Dogs saw tendencies Sunday, October 12, 2008 By: Darren Epps ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia defensive end Demarcus Dobbs said he knew which way Tennessee was going to run the ball “80 percent of the time” based on alignments and formations the team studied in video sessions. The numbers reflect Dobbs’ proclamation — linebacker Rennie Curran made similar remarks — as the Volunteers rushed for 1 yard in Tennessee’s 26-14 loss to No. 10 Georgia. In last year’s meeting, Tennessee gained 190 yards on the ground. “Watching film was a huge part (of stopping the run),” Dobbs said. “We did some thorough video sessions and watched film and picked up on a couple of traits that gave away what they were going to do.” Dobbs said the Bulldogs noticed whether Tennessee lined up its fullback inside or outside and if the tight end moved to the backfield. He also said the alignment of tackles Chris Scott and Ramon Foster tipped off the direction of the run.

There's nothing more that can be said about our team nothing more,if the AD not willing to step in and do something then there's also a problem in our AD department. Thats the way I fill about it.

Pay-per-view for Tennessee football? What a joke! I'm with the other guys... let 'em all go on pay-per-view. That means the sooner we get rid of Fulmer and the rest of that bunch they call coaches! I think they ought to put a roof on Neyland Stadium, fully enclosing it, get rid of the football team, and convert it to a basketball arena! As much money as I've spent on season tickets and hot dogs, ought to pay for somebody who knows how to coach. A trained monkey can send a signal into the offense to run the "G-Gun" with Jones going up the middle again! Where did you get this guy, Clawson??? From a box of crackerjacks??? Oh well, maybe they can go 2-10 this year! After having played 6 games so far, they've already won 2 games! What a joke! I betcha' Wyoming will "beat 'em like a drum!" Ha ha ha... Joke's on you, Fulmer! No more money from me and my family! You loser! I tried to give away the rest of my season tickets, but nobody will take them! Losers!

No more donations... no more season tickets... no more wasting gas and money for food on Saturdays at Neyland Stadium! Goodbye bad dream! Maybe the Dean and the Alumni can figure out a way to pay Fulmer four million dollars, and "who knows" for Chavis, Clawson, and the rest of the useless so called "coaches." They need to go down the drain with those hoodlums they call football players! What a joke!

so next weeks game is on pay per view,KEEP THE GAMES THERE,SO WE WON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH A LOOSING TEAM,AND WE WON'T HAVE TO SEE THE COACHES ACT LIKE ITS THE DAY OFF ON GAME DAY,!!!!!! THANK YOU TO ALL THE COACHES THEY HAVE BUILT A LOOSING TEAM,WAY TO GO,

Why were two of the obvious calls by the officials not protested? On TV one could clearly see that the calls were erroneous. The Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator are doing a lousy job. It's unfair to some of the hard playing team members to be ridiculed because of poor coaching. Nick Stevens is doing an excellent job considering his short time playing. Experience will make him a great QB. Time for a change topside.

Early in the 3rd quarter, when the Off. Coordinator (or Coach Dumpty; whoever continues to call the miscarriage of plays) put Gerald Jones in at QB in the now infamous "G-Gun" formation, my 8 year old son (8 years old) said "Look dad, they put number 4 in again at QB, he's going to run up the middle!" If my 8 year old son knew it, don't you think the Bulldogs knew it? What a joke! Where is the innovation we were told that Clawson has? And the blatant, deliberate unsportsmanlike penalties? Has anyone ever thought about "benching" these "hoodlums?" I'm sure out of 80 players on the team there's some of those guys that will play fair! There is no responsibility being taught here! To let this go on is ridiculous! Fulmer, Chavis, Clawson, and the rest of the coaches (coaches? coach what?) need to be to take a hike!!! We need "new blood" for the football team... not this stagnant "mickey mouse dog and pony show" we have now! Open your eyes fellow ALUMNI!!! Fire this rabble!

i'm giving up on the ut football team,it seems like there getting no where, and the fact they have no team leadership, its a big reason why there not doing anything, there was flags, and personal fouls that should have never been called,in yesterdays game, since there no team work on this football team, this is whats going to happen, you know i went out of my way to buy season tickets, and know i have no use for them,i want to see a team that will win,not a team that are loosing, the high school football teams are playing better than ut,hhhhmmmmm, now what does tell you coach,

If the head coach of a college football team can only stand around with a clueless expression on his face while his players are committing fouls left and right, then it's time for him (FULMER) to refund his big contract and endorsement back to the university and sponsors and retire from coaching. The new OC is a joke. Make Chavis the new head coach and hopefully he can turn this team around before our record is 2-10.

seen some bad calls on the personal fouls that ain't what lost the game.We been goin down hill for several years,I think its time to quit blaming the under coaches and get to the head of the problem..maybe if no one would buy season tickects next year they'll get rid of Fulmer it's a shame we didn't get Spurrier when he couldn't hack it with the pros. We're right now at the point we should of been in the spring...If they don't get rid of Fulmer they ort ta get in a different conference, theys no use keep imbarasing the SEC with this pour a performance...maybe they need to start scrimmageing those at "The Body Farm".Maybe they want loose so bad to them

Pay per View next week for Tennessee and Mississippi State? I was going to watch it but something more important came up: The annual stump-jumping contest. I'm sure it will have a better turnout than the Vols game, and you can even see real athletes competing. Not anything like the UT Vols weekly "Dog and Pony Show" at the stadium. And it won't cost you $150-$200 per person to have a great time. No sireee Bob! Fulmer's Follies have seen the last of me until they get their act together..... maybe next year! Is that not ridiculous? What an embarrassment to all UT Fans! They keep on stinkin' it up, I'll never go back!

Stunk it up again, did the Vols. 12 running plays for a total of 16 yards. Where did we get this Offensive Coordinator, from Holston Middle School? Good selection, Fulmer! Why don't you and Clawson do everyone a favor and "ride off into the sunset!" Just like I said before: "All of the money it has taken to beautify the stadium... absolutely beautiful! When you add in the Tennessee Coaches and team this year, you make it a "Turd in a Punch Bowl!" Can anyone there stop the players from the blatant and excessive Personal Fouls? They play like a bunch of "unorganized hoodlums." What a discrace to past UT Teams. I wouldn't show my face around there anymore if you can't play any better than that! Georgia was flat, and had nothing, but our "usual mob-mentality bunch" did what they usually do: Nothing! Absoultely pathetic! Go away bad dream! Maybe you can still get a degree in "Underwater Basket Weaving!" Phys. Ed. is out of the question!
