Report: Kiffin apologizes to Pahokee football coach

(WVLT Sports Overtime) -- After spending weeks and weeks calling high school recruits, Lane Kiffin made a call Saturday morning to a high school football coach.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Kiffin called Pahokee coach Blaze Thompson to apologize.

"He apologized and made no excuses," Thompson told the media outlet. "He's doing what's right and we appreciate it."

Thursday morning, Kiffin ruffled alot of feathers during a recruiting celebration breakfast. When talking about the signing of prize recruit (and Pahokee football player) Nu'Keese Richardson, Kiffin said "Somebody at the school was going to screw it up...the fax machine wouldn't work or they would have changed the signatures...all the things that go on in Pahokee, now."

During the same function, Kiffin also called Florida head coach Urban Meyer a cheater, accusing him of NCAA recruiting violations. When it became known that Meyer didn't commit any wrong-doing, Kiffin apologized to Meyer, the University of Florida, as well as the SEC.

Later that Thursday while in Memphis, Kiffin told the media that many of his comments were "taken in a context that weren't meant." UT defensive coordinator, and Lane's dad, Monte Kiffin said the remarks were "tongue-in-cheek."

But while Florida and the SEC got an apology, Pahokee was never mentioned, and Thompson wants one.

"I told him the town and the school need a public apology, since what he said earlier was public, and he said he would take care of it."
