KNOXVILLE (WVLT) -- The war of words between Lane Kiffin and Urban Meyer is not over, even though the team's annual showdown took place last Saturday.
After practice Monday, the Tennessee head coach rebuffed Meyer's Sunday claim that the Vols weren't playing to win in the waning minutes of the UT-Florida game.
"This offseason the commissioner made a big deal of renewing vows in terms of what we say about other teams and other players" Kiffin said. "Obviously Urban feels he doesn't need to follow that. We won't say anything else."
Kiffin did, however, take a subtle jab at Meyer later in the press gathering.
When asked if the Vols were worried about a flu bug after Meyer's postgame revelation that several Florida players were sick, Kiffin said, "We'll wait and see, and after we're not excited about our performance we'll tell you that everybody was sick."
Kiffin also said he wished the Vols could play the Gators again during the 2009 season, but that he was looking forward to next year's meeting, when Florida wouldn't have Tim Tebow on the field.

Marcus needs to study his UT football history. The Vols have always been a power running team.
Well Marcus, Maybe you should go back to school and learn to speak the English language properly. (may be a good full back but HIM and Berry can't carry the team.....) ????? Wow, that was intellegent! Kiffin give us hope, for the first time in several years, that we might be able to become a SEC powerhouse once more!
