KNOXVILLE (WVLT) - Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive has come down hard on the Florida Gators head coach, Urban Meyer, for a bylaws violation.
On Friday the conference released a statement the Meyer had been fined $30,000 for publicly commenting on officiating during a game.
Public Challenges
Meyer is the first coach to fined under the SEC's new stricter stance on the policy. Under the new policy the Florida coach could have also faced suspension for questioning SEC officials in public.
The new policy was put into place last week after Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin and Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen challenged officials in their respective games. Kiffin has already collected two reprimands from the SEC Commissioner.
