OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- University of Tennessee safety Eric Berry will be honored by the Oklahoma Senate for winning the 2009 Jim Thorpe Award given each year to the nation's best college defensive back.

Berry will be honored Monday during a ceremony on the Senate floor and a Senate resolution will be read honoring the Georgia native.

Berry had two interceptions and two fumble recoveries for the Volunteers this season. He also was second on the team with 83 tackles.

Thorpe was an Oklahoma native and member of the Sac and Fox Nation.
