MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Bearden was able to exercise some demons from a year ago. Carter was not.

For the second consecutive year, the Green Hornets are one-and-done at the TSSAA boys state tournament. In class AA action, Carter fell victim to a hot shooting Maplewood team, 84-63. The Panthers connected on 66 percent of their shots.

Carter was led by standout Lester Wilson, who poured in 25 points and ten rebounds. The Green Hornets end the season with a 23-11 record.

Meanwhile, Bearden had better luck. The Bulldogs knocked off Beech 68-52 to advance to the class AAA semifinals. Bearden will face Melrose at 6 p.m. on Friday.

The Bulldogs, who also had an early exit a year ago, were led by Rico White. White scored 22 points.
