Knoxville (WVLT/AP) – The University of Tennessee Volunteers have apparently caught the eyes of the nation's coaches in the off season. The Vols are ranked 15th in the preseason USA Today Coaches' Top 25 poll released Friday.

The Vols are coming off a 9-4 season which culminated with an appearance in the Outback Bowl and finished the 2006-07 season ranked 25 in the Associated Press Poll and 23 in the Coaches’ Poll. Head Coach Phillip Fulmer and the Volunteers take to the field for the first official day of practice Friday.

USC is at the top of the preseason Coaches’ Poll, taking 45 first-place votes.

Two SEC schools are on the heels of the Trojans, LSU is ranked second, followed by Florida in third. Georgia at 13, Auburn at 14 and Arkansas ranked 20th round out the six ranked Southeastern Conference schools

Three other SEC received votes in the Coaches Poll. South Carolina walked away with 90 votes, Alabama took 16 votes and Kentucky received one vote in the poll.

The initial Associated Press poll comes out next week.
