Rob Pratt is a Volunteer TV News Reporter.
It's been an unpredictable journey, but I've finally made it home. Don't misunderstand, I've lived in East Tennessee most of my life, but the home I am referring to is television news. As I leave behind my career as a trial lawyer and make my return to television after eight years away, I can think of no better place to make my comeback than Volunteer TV News. Growing up in Morristown, I came to know the people of this region and their stories. I started with the public address announcer's microphone at local ballgames and spent the typical tour as a weekend radio personality while I attended Walters State Community College. From there it was on to East Tennessee State University, where I was honored to be named the top Mass Communication graduate. In 1993, my television career began at the CBS affiliate in Johnson City, Tennessee. I spent a happy six years reporting and anchoring in the Tri-Cities. My wife, Stacia, and I moved back home to our native Morristown, where she began her career as a family practice physician. While I was away from TV news, I graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law. While I was practicing law, I realized that I missed telling people's stories. That's when this U.T. Law graduate and lifelong Big Orange fan came to realize Volunteer TV would be a perfect fit. Fortunately, I never even had to look anywhere else. I hope I get a chance to meet you along the way and maybe even tell your story. I thank you for your interest in WVLT news and what we do to bring a part of your world home to you.
