Name: Alan Williams
Title: Anchor
Email Address: alan.williams@wvlt-tv.com

Alan Williams is a VOLUNTEER TV NEWS anchor and the Tennessee Traveler.

It is such a blessing to be going on my 28th year in the broadcast business and living in my hometown of Knoxville.

In this business I see so many anchors and reporters from different backgrounds never able to go back home and work in their own backyard so to speak.

My career began in 1979 at the Knoxville NBC affiliate doing weekend sports. After a stint in Alabama, I came back home as sports director at the Knoxville ABC affiliate, then sports director of WIVK radio. During that period, I also hosted a TNN country dance show called, "Dance Line."

My career took another turn when I came onboard WKXT in 1988 (now WVLT) to host a new show called "Noonday".

I've always been interested in sports, going back from my early days when my family moved to Pompano Beach, Florida.

After graduating from high school, I was fortunate to earn a football scholarship to the University of Florida (yes, Florida). I was later drafted as a punter for the New York Jets.

I'm married to the former Rebecca Jackson, a former Vol Football Hostess. Between us we have five children.

In my spare time I enjoy sports, running and reading and sharing time with the family.

I am a member of the Screen Actors' Guild, and a member of the Country Music Association.

An advisory board member for Doris Walker Academy, board member of The O'Connor Senior Center, spokesperson for the Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Knoxville, member of the Advisory Committee of the Knoxville Nativity Pageant, and a board member of the Knoxville Area United Way.

Thanks for inviting me into your living room every night and sharing stories that touch our lives.
