Allison Hunt is a WVLT VOLUNTEER TV Reporter.
It may be a long way from New York down here to Knoxville, but I feel right at home.
A small town south of Buffalo, NY is where I call home and have my whole life. That's where my 3 best friends (my younger sisters) and the rest of my amazing family are.
Tennessee reminds me a lot of Western NY, although the thermometer reads a little warmer, I'm looking forward to 50 degrees in the winter instead of 50 inches of snow!
I graduated from the Russell J. Jandoli School of Journalism and Mass Communication at St. Bonaventure University. And after cheering on the ‘Bonnies' for four years, I can't wait for the UT basketball team to get out on the court! (And since Bonaventure doesn't have a football team, I can't wait to get my first taste of big-time college football either!)
After graduation I packed up and headed for the mountains. I began my career at WOAY in Beckley, WV as a reporter and weekend weather anchor. I got quite the outdoor experience there...I went white water rafting and rock climbing! Two things I never imagined I would do! The Mountain State is beautiful and hooked me into my second job at WHCP in Charleston, WV. As a reporter there I had the opportunity to cover one of the most heart-breaking stories of my career, the Sago Mine Disaster. It was however, an amazing experience working along side some of the most well refined journalists today.
But it seemed my journey south wasn't over yet, and that brings me here to Knoxville. I'm so excited to cover news that matters to you during the week. So far it's been amazing here! Everyone has been so nice and welcoming! Thank you!
It always great to hear from you so if you have any questions, comments, or story ideas, email me. Thanks for watching Volunteer TV News!
