Daryl Hobby is a WVLT VOLUNTEER TV Sports Overtime anchor and reporter.
It's great to be back in East Tennessee! Growing up an Air Force brat, I've lived all over the place, but it's here in Big Orange Country that my heart lies. I attended high school in Blount County, and then the University of Tennessee after that.
I landed my first on-air position in December of 1997. That's when I packed my bags (and snow shovel) and headed to the Midwest, where I served as KTVO's weekend sports anchor in the Kirksville, MO/Ottumwa, IA market. After just six months in "America's heartland" my career took me back to Knoxville, and for two years, I was a sports reporter/photographer for a station here in town. Two years later, it was time again to pack the bags, as I accepted the position of sports director for KAIT-TV in Jonesboro, AR. I was with KAIT for nearly five years, which brings us to the present.
It's exciting to be a part of the Sports Overtime Team and Knoxville's biggest sports TV staff. I look forward to meeting the people and places that make up East Tennessee's sports landscape, and bringing their stories into your living room.
When I'm not working, you might find me shanking a drive on the golf course, camping, taking a road trip, or just talking sports with anyone willing to listen!
I always enjoy hearing from our viewers and reading what they have to say, or answering any questions they might have, so feel free to email me.
