KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) Knoxville Police now say a crime reported by the media overnight as a carjacking, was not a carjacking, but rather a robbery and theft case with some very strange details.

Let's start from the top.

Knoxville Police spokesperson Darrell DeBusk says Larry Bohannon, 33, picked up a prostitute at Oldham Avenue and Elm Street just before 3:00 a.m. this morning.

DeBusk identified the prostitute as Stephanie Starcher, 30. He says Starcher and Bohannon went back to her hotel room at the Best Value Inn on Merchants Drive.

But DeBusk says there was a surprise waiting inside for Bohannon, a man named Charles Young, 36.

Police say Young robbed Bohannon at knifepoint, then he and Starcher fled the scene with Starcher's 5 week old boy.

Police found the vehicle a little after 6 a.m. this morning on Central Avenue.

DeBusk says the child was taken to Children's Hospital for a checkup, and is now in DCS custody.

But here's the catch, Bohannon told police he doesn't want to file charges.

According to police, Bohannon said, "I prayed for the suspects after they robbed me and I feel they will be better people now."

Police weren't too fazed. They charged Young with possession of a stolen vehicle, driving on a revoked license, speeding in a construction zone, and evading arrest.

He is being held in the Knox County Detention Center.

KPD Investigators say Larry Bohannon, 33, picked up a prostitute Tuesday morning and was later robbed in a hotel room. KPD says he declined to press charges saying he had prayed for the suspects. Bohannon does not face any charges in connection with the incident.

Oops -- I thought it was his child, but it was the prostitute's. But Mr. Bohannan needs to be charged with soliciting a prostitute. Why is it that the woman is the only one at fault? This idea that he picked her up to "help" her is BS. He picked her up for sex. Are you blind?

PS: For all the people that commented here could it be possible the story is not correct.. YOU ARE forgetting he was not charged with a crime ,, why not??? Praying is always good especially when you think your about to die.. Next who was the the ones taking to jail.? NOT Mr. Bohannon.. so lay off him.. he was trying to help the women..not have sex with her..and if he was is that a crime? It is if you solicits prostitution..So i guess that he was not doing that.. you all should be ashamed..

Strange story,, The story i got was that he picked her up on merchants drive,,Not oldham. Next thing that is strange is that you guys are saying he "picked up a prostitute..FOR WHAT.. I thought what you are suggesting is a crime..So why was he not charged? Strange indeed.. UHMM. looks like someone forgot that soliciting a prostitute is illegal.. Maybe it happened like this.. He saw someone that needed help, so helped..but when she found out he didn't have money she went to backup plan.. Hotel amd robbery.. You guys are spreading lies.. plan and simple..If I was him I would file suit against the news paper and KPD.. Or fire the people that DID NOT CHARGE HIM>>>

How do you take a 5 week old baby in a room where there is nothing going on but crack....and prostitution. Did noone in this girls family know that she had had a baby and how do they let this happen?? May God be with this child.....

I certainly hope Mr. Bohannon is facing some charges for endangering his child, of child neglect and for soliciting a prostitute.

the gentleman should have prayed before he picked up the prostitute and he would not have been in that situation at least he did have the gumption to pray after I hope he does not have a wife and family at home
