TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police cited country music singer Chris Cagle for misdemeanor assault after an incident at a nightclub.

Police say Cagle had just finished performing a benefit show when a woman became belligerent when he refused to sign additional autographs for her after signing several. Sgt. Mark Robinson says the 39-year-old singer punched the woman's boyfriend in the face early Thursday morning.

Cagle could not be reached for comment Thursday. The singer has produced two gold albums and his 2002 single "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out" reached No. 1 on Billboard's country music chart.

The benefit raised money for the Arizona's Children Association as part of radio station's annual charity drive.

Seems as though Chris has right hook after all! I just wonder if he "breathed in" OR "breathed out" after delivering the knockout punch!

Kudos to Chris for his donations to the Children's charity.....It is a shame none of the news are reporting the possitive stuff

I just wanted to say, I'm glad Chris is in the news again, but it would be nice if everyone was told about all the good he's been doing for St. Judes and other charities he has raised money for, and not just for the one bad incident that has happened. I agree the bad needs to be reported same as the good, but hopefully we'll see some more of the good being reported. After alll there has been alot more good than bad! Thanks for listening! And thanks for mention the fundraising he did and not just the punching! ~Jammie Florida

I am a proud Caglehead (Chris Cagle's fan club). I just thought I'd add to this "Strange News". What people are not being told is that at that same concert Chris donated the clothes he wore during the concert to be auctioned. They brought close to $3000.00 which went to the Arizona Children Association. He also donated ALL money made on his merchandise sales that night. He's one heck of a guy, always ready to lend a helping hand with any charity, especially those involving children! He's only human, we all make mistakes. I just hope that everyone takes a minute to check around about all the good things Chris does before trying to judge him on this one incident!
