UPDATED (WVLT) -- The Union County Sheriff's Department is investigating the shooting death of a woman left lying in a road.

Officials say they are investigating this as a homicide now, with the help of the TBI.

They are not releasing the victims name at this time, only saying she is a white woman, approximately in her mid 40's.

They say it appears she was shot and left at the intersection of Highway 370 and Little Bull Run Road.

At this time no suspects have been named, but Union County officials say they're following up on leads in the case.

Luttrell, TN (WVLT) -- A woman is fighting for her life after she was found lying in the road in Luttrell.

Union County police found her at the intersection of Highway 370 and Little Bull Run Road around 9:30 Thursday night.

Investigators say the woman may have been shot and her injuries appear to be life threatening.

The Sheriff's Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are investigating.

No information has been released about the suspect.
