Tennessee senior fullback David Holbert underwent a second successful surgery Friday on his left knee, according to the early evening report from Vols head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh. Holbert injured the knee during a March 29 scrimmage at Neyland Stadium.

"This was the second and final surgery resulting from the injury sustained in spring practice," McVeigh said. "David will miss the 2008 football season."

Holbert missed the entire 2007 season after suffering a preseason injury to his right knee.

Drs. Greg Mathien and Russell Betcher of Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic performed the surgery at UT Medical Center.
