Knoxville (WVLT) -- Tennessee linebacker Gerald Williams has been cleared to play this fall for the Vols.
Williams was practicing Friday. He hadn't practiced with the team since August 20th.
Williams, and the rest of the coaching staff, were awaiting word on one final academic hurdle. Friday during a team meeting before practice, the word came that Williams was eligible to play.
Williams' road to Knoxville was a long one. He originally signed with the Tennessee in 2005, but a series of academic issues kept him from suiting up with the Big Orange--until now.
