KNOXVILLE (AP) -- Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer says he'll consider other options at quarterback and other offensive positions after what he called an unacceptable performance in the Vols' 14-12 loss at Auburn.
Jonathan Crompton completed only eight of 23 passes for 67 yards and fumbled a handoff to Arian Foster at the goal line that was recovered by Auburn in the end zone for the decisive score.
Crompton's backups include redshirt sophomore Nick Stephens, who has attempted only two passes this season including a 42-yard pass to Brandon Warren late against UAB. Redshirt freshman B.J. Coleman is also available but has not played in a game this season.
The Vols (1-3, 0-2 Southeastern Conference) also use wide receiver Gerald Jones at quarterback in their "G-gun" package. Jones usually hands off the ball or runs with it but attempted his first pass of the season against the Tigers (4-1, 2-1), an incompletion to Lucas Taylor.
