Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer hasn't decided who will start at quarterback when the Vols face Northern Illinois on Saturday night.
Fulmer opened the starting quarterback position up for competition between Jonathan Crompton and Nick Stephens after Crompton completed only eight of 23 passes for 67 yards in the Vols' 14-12 loss to Auburn last weekend.
Fulmer said Thursday afternoon he would spend the evening reviewing practice tape and announce to the team who would start during the team's Friday walk-through at Neyland Stadium.
Crompton is a redshirt junior and is averaging about 165 yards passing per game in four games this season and has thrown four interceptions and only two touchdowns.
Stephens is a redshirt sophomore and has attempted only two passes in his college career, both late in the Vols' 35-3 win this season over UAB. One fell incomplete while the other was a 42-yard connection with Brandon Warren.
