Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT) -- It was a whose-who of high school lineman on the Tennessee campus Monday.
The Vols football staff hosted a one-day only camp for roughly 190 prep offensive and defensive lineman--a camp that featured some of the nation's best players.
UT commitments Jacques Smith (Ooltewah High School) and J.C. Copeland (LaGrange, Ga) were in attendance. They're both 4-star prospects according to Rivals.
Smith told Sports Overtime he was pleased with his performance. "I really had alot of fun," he said. "It was really good working with all these top offensive and defensive lineman guys. You don't get to see that type of competition during the year."
Smith, who Rivals ranks as the 63rd best prospect in the class of 2010, already has a Tennessee offer, so he said he viewed Monday's camp as a way to get better. It also provided an outlet to learn something about his future position coach--Ed Orgeron.
"I really didn't know how intense Coach Orgeron was until we stepped out on that field today. That guy goes nuts 24-7 about the whole time. We were in the film room, and I'm like, 'Coach, I know you're tired. I know you're tired.' He was like, 'I just drank 3 Red Bulls, Jacques.' I was pumped up the whole day."
Nashville stud offensive lineman James Stone also participated in the camp; as did Atlanta defensive end T.J. Stripling and Byrnes High School (Duncan, S.C.) teammates Brandon Willis and Corey Miller--all four of them are Rivals 4-star prospects.
