KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- The snow from Monday and lasting into the morning Tuesday, left a beautiful blanket of white across the region, but also some bad road conditions.
Before the sun came up, a white glow lit up the night, as snow covered East Tennessee, but that same beauty, caused some problems.
Overnight and into the early morning hours, some people had trouble driving on the roads; from patches of snow making things slick, to black ice causing some sudden sliding.
Salt trucks started Monday night, treating main roads across the region to try to make the drive safer, but some back-roads still retain that freshly fallen snow look.
Some people in neighborhoods, where the roads are still fairly snow covered, say they're sticking to the indoors where it's safe and warm.
And the white blanket on neighborhoods is welcomed by most kids, since most got to stay to home from school.
10-year-old Rebekah says "I was sleeping and my brother came in and jumped on my bed and was yelling that we didn't have school and wanted me to come out and play and everything was covered in snow, and I said, why not its fun playing in the snow."
And this bunch of kids turned the neighborhood into one big playground.
Volunteer TV reporter Heather Haley asked 5-year-old Baylie "What's your favorite part about the snow?" and she said "Making snow angels."
9-year-old Tyler says "throwing snowballs at my sister and having fun!"
Then there's payback from Tyler's sister Rebekah, but for him, its still better than going to school.
Tyler says "school, you have to learn and we don't get to go outside in the winter, and here we get to go outside and play and stuff."
Many neighborhoods and back-roads still have a dusting of snow and possible ice under that covering.
Monday night's cold temperatures may also cause the wet roads to re-freeze, making for another rough commute in the morning.
